About Tym Gilson
Tym Gilson brings more than 30 years of marketing experience across financial education, consumer products, professional services, and healthcare. He also has extensive experience in commercial real estate project management, overseeing projects ranging from restaurants and large warehouse facilities to medical and professional office spaces. Tym joined Utah Cancer Specialists in 2019 and has been closely involved in shaping both the organization’s growth and the experience it provides to patients, families, and staff.
His path to healthcare was driven by the challenge of creating a better experience for everyone impacted by cancer. Before joining UCS, Tym worked with several nonprofit organizations in California, including foundations focused on cancer awareness and support. Through that work, he encountered remarkable people and stories that reinforced his desire to help organizations better connect with and care for the communities they serve.
Tym is especially excited about the direction Utah Cancer Specialists is taking as healthcare becomes increasingly system driven. He believes UCS has an opportunity to do something different by preserving personal connections, remaining responsive to individual needs, and making the patient experience central to how the organization grows. Seeing long-term goals become reality and watching the UCS team turn opportunities for improvement into strengths has been particularly rewarding for him.
For Tym, exceptional patient care comes down to a simple question: Are we treating every patient the way we would want our own family to be treated? He believes the well-being of the people providing that care matters just as much. His work has included creating spaces specifically designed to support staff, recognizing that employees who feel cared for and supported are better equipped to provide an exceptional experience for patients and families.
Outside of work, Tym is happiest spending time with his family and creating memories together. Faith, family, service, music, time on the water, and continually learning are important parts of his life. While he may claim free time is hard to find, he enjoys studying subjects that interest him and making the most of the time he has with the people who matter most.
