About Dr. Havard

Dr. Havard grew up in Visalia, California, and completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA before heading east for medical school in Chicago and residency at the University of Virginia. He later returned west to complete his oncology training at Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he discovered that Utah was where he wanted to build both his career and his life. He went on to join Utah Cancer Specialists.

With a father who practiced medical oncology, Dr. Havard had an early introduction to both the challenges and rewards of caring for patients with cancer. That perspective, combined with the significant advances in cancer treatment he has witnessed throughout his career, continues to shape his commitment to providing thoughtful, individualized care.

He views the relationship with each patient as a partnership. His approach centers on shared decision-making, providing patients with the information and guidance they need to understand their options, navigate complex decisions, and choose the treatment approach that is right for them.

Dr. Havard first began visiting Utah to ski in 2003 and later returned for his oncology training in 2016. Staying in Utah after completing his training was an easy decision. Outside of work, he enjoys road and mountain biking, trail running, skiing, and spending time with his family.
