About Dr. Samuelson
Dr. Scott Samuelson earned his medical degree from the University of Utah, completed his Internal Medicine residency at Duke University, and went on to complete fellowship training at Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he also spent a year on faculty. He joined Utah Cancer Specialists in 2009.
His interest in oncology began during residency, when he discovered how much he valued working with cancer patients and their families. He considers it a privilege to help patients navigate one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Dr. Samuelson treats a wide range of cancers and blood disorders, with particular expertise in genitourinary cancers, including advanced prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancers. He also has significant experience caring for women with gynecologic cancers and maintains strong relationships with local and national experts in these areas.
His approach to care centers on education, honesty, and shared decision-making. Dr. Samuelson believes patients should fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their care. While he believes in treating cancer aggressively when appropriate, he also recognizes that sometimes a less intensive approach may best support a patient’s goals and quality of life.
He is especially grateful for the team he works alongside at Utah Cancer Specialists and the way they make patients feel cared for and supported.
A lifelong Utahn, Dr. Samuelson grew up in Holladay and has lived in Davis County with his family since 2006. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter—his dogs, his faith, and following sports.
