Personalized, multidisciplinary treatment plans combining advanced therapies and compassionate support for every stage of breast cancer.

Overview

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers diagnosed in women, and with early detection and modern treatment, outcomes are better than ever. At Utah Cancer Specialists, our breast cancer program brings together medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical partners, genetic counselors, and supportive-care specialists into a single coordinated team — so every patient receives a treatment plan built around her specific type, stage, and goals.

Whether you've just been diagnosed or are seeking a second opinion, our team will walk you through every step, explain your options in clear language, and help you make confident, informed decisions about your care.

  • Changes in the size, shape, or contour of the breast
  • Skin changes such as dimpling, puckering, or redness
  • Nipple changes, including inversion, pain, or discharge
  • Unusual or persistent breast pain

If you notice any of these changes, talk to your primary care provider or request a consultation directly with our team.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start breast cancer screening?

Most guidelines recommend annual screening mammograms starting at age 40, though women with family history or genetic risk factors may need to begin earlier. We're happy to help you build a screening plan that's right for your personal history.

Will I need chemotherapy?

Not every patient needs chemotherapy. Modern genomic tests like Oncotype DX and MammaPrint help us determine which patients truly benefit — so many early-stage patients can safely avoid chemo and its side effects.

How do I get a second opinion?

We welcome second-opinion visits. Simply call 801.269.0231 to schedule; our team will help gather your records and imaging so the visit is productive from day one.

Do you offer clinical trials for breast cancer?

Yes. Through our START Program, patients have access to a growing portfolio of breast cancer clinical trials, including early-phase studies of novel targeted therapies and immunotherapy combinations.

Is genetic testing covered by insurance?

Most insurance plans cover genetic testing when clinical criteria are met. Our genetic counselors will walk you through the process and help verify coverage before testing.
